From the President – Winter 2013

Massachusetts General Hospital recently reached a significant milestone, thanks to the tremendous generosity of you, the readers of Mass General Magazine, and other supporters. On Dec. 11, 2012, we surpassed the $1.5 billion goal in the Campaign for the Third Century of MGH Medicine. In order to meet the ongoing demands of health care, the Campaign will continue until its scheduled conclusion at the end of 2013. However, this is an opportune time to reflect on what has been accomplished thanks to your extraordinary support.

From the President – Summer 2012

Massachusetts General Hospital is now in its third century of caring for patients. This is an exciting, but uncertain, time for health care. New and powerful laboratory tools are helping researchers discover better treatments more rapidly, and these advances are moving quickly to the bedside. The structure of healthcare management also is changing.

From the President – Winter 2012

When you review this copy of Mass General Magazine we will have concluded Massachusetts General Hospital’s bicentennial celebration. It was an exciting, eventful year for all of us as we commemorated 200 years since the signing of the original charter for the hospital.

From the President – Spring/Summer 2011

Massachusetts General Hospital is currently celebrating its bicentennial. Two hundred years ago, in 1811, the charter was signed to build a general hospital in Boston, the third such hospital in the nation. Since then, MGH has been making a significant difference in people’s lives and in the world of medicine.

Celebrating our Bicentennial – Summer 2010

This past winter, Mass General’s unparalleled commitment to making a global impact was put to the test when a massive earthquake devastated the island republic of Haiti. Hundreds of MGH staff members hail from Haiti, and as the entire hospital community came together to mourn, nearly 100 of our employees deployed as part of a large-scale relief effort to aid victims struggling with the unanticipated tragedy.
